Shipping And Postage

Choose To Ship Your Items Locally, Domestically Or Worldwide

Whenever you list an item, either for sale or for giveaway, you must decide how you wish to ship your item.

Kidzeboo provides you with mulitple options, choices and services for selecting your preferred method in shipping an item that you offer online.

Local Collection

Local Collection means that the buyer of your item must collect it from you personally and the item will not be shipped.

Local Collection is ideal if you wish to sell or giveaway items to other parents in your neighbourhood, town or city and don't want the inconvenience of packing and shipping your items using traditional post or courier services.

When selecting Local Collection for your item there are:

  • No Shipping Options
  • No Shipping Fees
  • No opportunity to offer Free Postage and Packaging (FREE P&P)

Whenever an item is listed as Local Collection, payment for the item, in the case of selling the item, is made through Kidzeboo.

Naturally, listing an item for local members only, also reduces the number of potential buyers for your item to those willing to travel and collect the item in person.

Domestic Shipping

Domestic Shipping means that you wish to sell or give your item to another parent in your state, region or country.

As Domestic Shipping requires you to pack and post your item. You must complete Shipping Option and Shipping Fee form details before publishing.

Domestic Shipping offers advantage over Local Collection in that it increases the number of potential buyers for your item from those locally to those nationally.

When you select Domestic Shipping for your item you must:

  • Select your preferred Shipping Option
  • Complete the item's Shipping Fee details
  • Select Free Postage and Packaging (FREE P&P) if you wish to offer free shipping on your item

Available Shipping Options for Domestic Shipping include:

  • Priority Mail Express *

Did You Know

The United States Postal Service sorts and delivers more than 700 million pieces of mail each day.

With such volume it's little wonder that every now and then an item can arrive damaged or in the very worst case broken.

So what can be done to prevent disappoint from your buyer and liablity from you as the seller?

Firstly, it is important to remember that as the owner of an item being sold on Kidzeboo that you have the responsibility for the packing of your item.

Damage that occurs to items during transit is normally due to insufficient packaging.

Therefore the best way to avoid this is to always ensure your item is correctly packed and check:

  • The Box
  • Bubble Wrap And Cushioning
  • Extra Delivery Labels
  • Fragile Items
  • Before you begin packing your item, choose a box with enough room for cushioning material around your item. A sturdy paperboard or corrugated fiberboard box is often best.

Always make sure your item is sufficiently packed and never rely on newspaper or shredded paper as sufficient cushioning.

While newspaper may protect your item from gentle bumps, it will not prevent breakage from drops. So always make sure to place plenty of bubble wrap around your item.

Once you have added bubble wrap, close and shake the box to see if you have enough cushioning. If you hear your item moving or hitting against the side of your box then this is a good indicator that you require more cushioning.

For fragile items, use extra layers of bubble wrap or use foamed plastic padding to protect your items.

Always ensure to place bubble wrap or foam inside hollow items such as jars, cups and glass etc.

Mark your package "Fragile" or mark "Perishable" on packages that contain items that can spoil.

It's always a good idea to tape all edges and sides of your box with reinforced tape. Just for added protection and in the event that you box should tear or rip your item remains enclosed.

Following this guide should ensure that your item reaches your buyer safely and in the condition in which you sold and offered your item.

If you still have concerns, especially over more expensive and higher priced items, then Postage Insurance and Tracking may be an option to consider for your item.

Whenever you sell online you must always evaluate if you feel the additional cost of insurance and tracking, or signed postal delivery is worth the additional costs that will be added to your item's shipping charges.

Postal insurance can be expensive and put off some buyers.

On the other hand, postal insurance can be a wise investment if you have a precious or expensive item and are concerned about your postal service or courier delivering your item in one piece.

Likewise, registered or signed postal delivery increases the cost of shipping but in parallel provides you with the reassurance and knowledge that the buyer must sign for your item in order to receive it and so cannot dispute ever receiving your item at a later stage.

Tracking is usually provided as a service included in the cost and shipping from every courier. However, the majority of postal services also provide tracking ability for items as an optional charge.

Ultimately, as the seller, you must decide which shipping options you are most comfortable with and consider which, if any, additional shipping charges may influence a potential buyer's decision to purchase your item or a similar item from another seller.
